Best podcasting apps 2021
Podcasts appear to be making a comeback as a primary source of information in the age of the Internet. It's a great thing to listen to experts discuss topics that interest you, and it's easy enough to find great podcasts. There are also a plethora of infotainment podcasts that relate stories, tell jokes and even featurette podcasts that delve into specific topics. There is a podcast for just about every issue you can think of. If you like blogs and are looking for a new podcast app, here are the best podcast application for Android.
There are a variation of normal talk radio apps available for those who enjoy talk radio but do not want to deal with file-sharing or selecting content.
Anchor:
The majority of the apps on this list are podcast apps, which allow you to download or stream your favorite podcasts. We decided to include at least one app that will assist you in making them yourself. Anchor is a podcast sponsoring service that provides unlimited space. The app allows you to record audio, publish it to various destinations such as iTunes and Google Apps, and import audio from those other devices to upload.
Castbox:
Castbox is one of the few available free podcast apps. It boasts a library of over one million podcasts culled from sources such as iTunes and others. The app also supports 70 languages, teaching English podcasts, Chromecast, Google Home, and other features. It also supports large syncing for the support of multiple devices. The free version includes everything and is ad-free.
Doggcatcher:
DoggCatcher is one of the more established podcast apps. The app, on the other hand, receives constant updates. Support for Android Wear, Android Auto, and Chromecast are currently available. It also has a large podcast library, compilation support, variable speed playback, themes, and various technology and functionality features. Material Design is even used in the app. You must pay $2.99 up front. However, there are no advertisements or in-app purchases.
Google Podcasts:
Google is doing the same thing with their podcast selection that they did with their messenger selection. Google currently offers three different podcast platforms. Google Vlogs is the first. It's a fairly standard podcast app, complete with controls for playback speed and the ability to skip silence segments. Google Play Music is the company's current music service, and it also supports podcasts. Google Podcasts is a relatively simple and free option, so it is the one we propose first. It had a rocky start, but it now works much better.
Pocket Casts:
Pocket Casts used to be one of the simplest app guidelines on any Android Authority app list. It's still an excellent podcast player, but it's not as relatively easy to operate as it once was. The app has an awesome user interface (UI), good accessibility features, some power user features, and even some productive populations such as themes. Back in the day, this was a luxury app.
Podbean:
Podbean is a popular podcast app that performs admirably. It has a massive number of podcasts organized into various categories. You can subscribe, stream, download, and listen whenever you want. It also has lock screen controls, multiple audio effects, Google home support, Google Assistant support, and Alexa Voice integration. That means you can use it almost anywhere. A few Google Play reviewers had a few gripes, but we didn't find anything particularly troubling during our testing.
Podcast Addict:
One of the most popular free podcast apps is Podcast Addict. It has a large library of podcasts, paperbacks, live streaming radio, and other content. It also supports YouTube and Twitch channels. Variable playback speed, skip silence options, Google home support, and Android tv support are also included in the app. The user interface appears to be a little dated, but it functions extremely well, with a plethora of options for playlists, playback, and organization.
Podcast Go:
Podcast Go is one of the newest podcast apps. It includes the essentials, such as podcast episode downloads, variable speed playback, sleep timers, and more. It also has a lovely design that incorporates Material Design. The app has over 300,000 podcasts available. You can search and browse at your leisure, as well as subscribe. Otherwise, it's a fairly straightforward experience. Although the app is free to use, it does contain advertisements. You can pay $2.99 to have the advertisements removed. You can get it for free if you have a Google Play Pass subscription.
Spotify:
Spotify is one of the best and most popular digital music services in the world. In early 2016, it also began producing podcasts. There aren't as many podcasts currently offered as there are on iTunes but we have no doubt that the number of possible podcasts will grow over time. You can download and use the service for free if you don't mind some audio advertisements, or you can pay $9.99 per month for the full, ad-free experience. If you already use Spotify, a second podcast app will almost certainly become obsolete.
TuneIn Radio:
TuneIn Radio is one of the best radio apps available. Its primary focus is on live talk radio. The app does, however, including podcasts, audiobooks, radio stations (both AM and FM), and even live sporting events. The owners of podcasts must make their podcasts available for this one. It does not, for example, search iTunes for podcast content. Otherwise, it's a very useful podcast app.
A brief overview of the process of creating a podcast app
Creating a podcast app is difficult and time-consuming. However, if done correctly, your app can be a huge success and provide a lot of value to users.
Important takeaways:

- Amazon, Apple, iHeartMedia, Pandora Media, and Spotify are all major players in the podcast market.
- We recommend creating a user persona, or a detailed portrait of your ideal user, before developing an amazing podcast mobile application.
