Snapchat is a multimedia messaging app used globally, created by Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Reggie Brown,[7] former students at Stanford University, and developed by Snap Inc., originally Snapchat Inc.
One of the principal features of Snapchat is that pictures and messages are usually only available for a short time before they become inaccessible to their recipients. The app has evolved from originally focusing on person-to-person photo sharing to presently featuring users' "Stories" of 24 hours of chronological content, along with "Discover", letting brands show ad-supported short-form content. It also allows users to keep photos in the "my eyes only" which lets them keep their photos in a password protected space.
HOW DOES SNAPCHAT WORK?
All you need to sign up is your name, an email address and your birth date. On Snapchat, users go by a handle, and Snapchatters gravitate toward silly names. To add friends, you can upload your contacts or search for people you know. You can also automatically add someone by taking a picture of their "Snapcode," a special QR code unique to each user. After that, things get a little confusing. On Snapchat, photos—not text—usually start the communication. To begin a conversation, you tap the big camera circle and take a snap. There are all sorts of photo-editing tools (you have to experiment to figure out what they do) as well as filters to adorn your images. Once you customize your snap, you can send it to anyone in your friends list or add it to your story, which is a record of the day that your friends can view for 24 hours. Snapchat also offers group texting and group stories that everyone in the group can contribute to.
What is snap streak ?
A Snapchat streak is when you send direct snaps back and forth with a friend for several consecutive days. The longer you go without breaking the chain of communication, the longer your streak is.
Snapchat rewards longer streaks with special emojis, such as the "100" emoji for streaks lasting 100 days, or a mountain emoji for an extremely long streak.
Many teens invest an inordinate amount of time keeping streaks alive. There's nothing more devastating than losing a streak you've put months of work into.
Snap streaks have become the default way to measure success on Snapchat, which is famous for its lack of a follower count.
Find friends and add
To add friends on Snapchat, tap Add Friends on your profile. You can then search friends by their username. If you’ve synced your contacts go to the Contacts section, where all of your friends with Snapchat accounts will be displayed here. When a friend adds you, a yellow notification will appear on your profile icon (as seen from the camera) and you will see “1 Snapchatter added you!” under Add Friends. To add a friend who has already added you, tap +Accept next to their name in the Add Friends menu.
Snap Stories
When you open Snapchat and are confronted by the Camera screen, swipe from right to left to access the Discoveries screen. From there, you can view all your friends’ broadcasted snaps in a reel that plays for up to 24 hours. Recent friend updates are at the top, followed by publishers' stories at the bottom. Just tap a friend’s name to begin viewing their story, and then tap on individual snaps within the reel itself to skip forward
You can also swipe up from a snap in a story to send a chat to that person. Anyway, from the Discover screen, you might see options to add to your story, search stories, find friends, quickly add suggested contacts, access your profile and audience settings, capture a snap, and return to chat. Snapchat also highlights content from Discover on the this screen.
